I don't understand why PD Doctors emphasis on the symptons of 'Freezing" incidences as the cause or the effect of falling? Why this symptons are only seen during the day not the night? It would be seen throughout the 24 hours i.e day and night if the lack of dopamine were the cause of falling? Is it the anxiety/panic that cause the person's falling or the cause of "Freezing" or symptoms of PD? Kindly elaborate Teo Kim Hoe

I'm not sure I'm following your question(s), Teo? Freezing can occur at any time--24 hours per day. Sometimes, freezing is a manifestation of 'off time', and therefore is most prominent when the drugs are wearing off, or in the night or early in the morning before the first dose of sinemet is taken. This type of freezing might improve when the medications are optimized and the off times are relieved. But sometimes, freezing can also happen outside off time, just as a manifestation of PD. This type of freezing is difficult to manage medically. Visual cues, physical therapy, sometimes botox injection, etc might help. Freezing can result in frequent falls. But falls can also occur without freezing. I hope this clarifies things for you a little bit. Yours,_________________Hubert H. Fernandez
