When is the mean off and on of PD medicine?

Sat Apr 21, 2007 9:15 am Post subject: When is the mean off and on of PD medicine?

As PD is on " not going disease' i.e. a slow progression and is different from other disease i.e a self -limited sickness or injury that temporarily impact their lives as inconvenience or comfort.

In this connection I have queries:

When are the days of PD medicine wearing off ?

Is it from the day when we start taking medicine or from the day the disease is detected?

What are the syndromes i.e wearing on or off on the PD medicine on the patients?

Is it the PD medicine has a wearing off i.e. 3 - 5 years on the patients?

Kindly elaborate? TEO KIM HOE

The wearing off phenomenon refers to what happens when you take medicines for PD and they do not last until the next dose. This phenomenon gets progressively worse over time and may necessitate the use of more frequent doses or increasing doses, or in adding other classes of medications. As PD progresses the buffer for dopamine becomes less able to deal with replacement._________________Michael S. Okun, M.D.
