Is Sinemet used for anything other than Parkinson Disease? If your body responds to Sinemet, does it mean that you have Parkinson Disease or could it be something else?

Sinemet or dopamine has been used to treat other diseases (brain tumors, restless legs) and in particular many other movement disorders (dystonia, tremors, etc.). If you have the cardinal symptoms of PD and you respond well to sinemet usually that helps confirm a diagnosis of PD. A diagnosis is best made by a specialist in movement disorders if there is any doubt._________________Michael S. Okun, M.D.
