My brother is 58 years old. He has Parkinson Disease for the past two years.
He has a weight loss and is more than ten pounds from his weigh.
He complains that he has stomach (muscles tissue) contraction.
He goes to toliet always and complaining that he has constipation.
He has taken laxative for his bowel movement prescribed by Neurologist.
He has slow movement mobility.
Is it any chances for him causing stomach cancer as my dad died on stomach cancer?
He feels tired and always rest on bed.
He has a personnel trainer.
Kindly advise what should the PA could help him? He comes 5 times a week.
He is now taking 1/2 doses Mandapor 4 times a day. Is it optimal combination with his PD? Thanks Teo Kim Hoe

Mild weight loss in PD may be common and may be linked to the PD itself or to many other factors. Adjusting diet and exercise is a good idea as is seeing an internist. A ten pound weight loss does not automatically mean he has cancer. Stomach tightness and constipation are common in PD._________________Michael S. Okun, M.D.

Dear Teo. As communicated in the last response weight loss is common in PD and may be due to PD, medications, or other medical co-morbidities. 10 pounds does not worry me, but again I suggest you get a consultation from your internist and your neurologist._________________Michael S. Okun, M.D.

Certainly, aspiration into the lungs and other factors can be in play, but rather than guessing I would recommend you let the doctors do a thorough evaluation and explain their findings to you._________________Michael S. Okun, M.D.

I understand he is now taking dietary food. He takes wheat, rye, barley, prune or juice for his daily meals and yet he still complaining the he has muscle contraction and constipation. He goes to the toliet of and on. He feels tired and depressed and has slow movement mobility. He has osteoprosis problems that weaken his chances of bones fractures. He has a certified personnel trainer who assigns his routine exercises, .i.e five times a week. Is it certain gluten, protein found in the dietary food that he is taking inability to digest and absorption in small intestines? Kindly advise Teo Kim Hoe
